
(1859 Barcelona - 1918 Rome) Pontine Swamp Landscape at Sunset Serra became known primarily for such symbolic mood landscapes from the Pontine swamps. He studied at the art school in Barcelona and continued his artistic education at the Chigi Academy in Rome. Even after completing his studies, he remained in Rome. In 1888, Serra received a gold medal at the World Exhibition in Barcelona. In 1895, Serra went to Paris, where he continued his successful career, while also continuing to work in Rome. Oil on canvas; L. and signed and dated 1896 with location Roma. 42 cm x 100 cm. Frame. The comparable landscape "Pontine Lagoon" from 1896 (Inv.
