(1905 Frankfurt - 1944 Smolensk) "Couple in the Green". Original title Rare ornamental-figural sheet by Scheele, who is counted among the artists of the lost generation. Trained from 1922 at the Frankfurt and Offenbach School of Applied Arts under Albert Windisch and Rudolf Koch, he switched to the Frankfurt Städel School in 1924 to study under Franz Karl Delavilla, a representative of Expressionism. In 1927, he moved to Berlin, where he celebrated his first exhibition successes and found his way to abstraction in the 1930s. However, in 1937, some of Scheele's works were deemed "degenerate" and in 1939 he received a general exhibition ban. Many of his works were destroyed in 1943 along with his studio due to the effects of war. Ink drawing in sepia/paper. Signed and dated (19)39 and titled in the middle. Verso with estate label with no. Z54. Approximately 28 cm x 20 cm (matting cutout). Framed. Brown ink on paper. Signed, dated (19)39 and inscribed with title. Estate label with no. Z54 on the reverse.
