Description

A rare antique Imperial Russian porcelain covered serving box by M. S. Kuznetsov Factory, circa 1870. Made as a bunch of grapes with leaves. Marked on underside in blue underglaze: Factory of M.S. Kuznetsov in Riga. The Riga Porcelain and Faience Factory was originally a branch of the Kuznetsov Family Partnership, the largest Russian enterprise for the production of porcelain, faience and majolica, the industrial center of which was located in Riga. The factory has been operating since the beginning of the 19th century. It successfully continued its work during the interwar period in Latvia and during the Soviet era, when it became one of the largest state enterprises of porcelain production.
