Description

A four-pass curved, rocaille-shaped bordered form with pierced handled. Relief-decorated, ribbed shell and foliage decoration. In the flat mirror, profiled, wide, tree-lined, Venetian harbor view. Standing before merchant ships and imposing palazzo architecture are Rococo couples and figurative staffage. Based on copperplate engravings by Melchior Küsel after J.W. Baur. Outer edge with Indian flower branches. Polychrome painting with rich gold staffage. Formerly attributed to Andreas Schiefer. Sword mark on unglazed base. 29 cm x 25 cm. A two-handled, relief-decorated porcelain tray finely painted with Venetian veduta after M. Küsel. Crossed swords mark. Meissen. Circa 1735-1739.
