An allegorical genre painting by an English artist who belongs to the most famous, versatile, prolific, inventive, and sought-after painters of the Victorian era. Parrish studied at the Royal Academy from 1816, and from then until the end of his life he was a frequent participant in exhibitions at the Royal Academy and the British Institution. In 1832, he was appointed historical painter to Queen Adelaide. Oil on canvas, signed and dated 1840 (?). 85 cm x 85 cm. In a frame.
