

(1863 Bremen – 1922 Munich) A small harbor impressionistic landscape of North Germany, possibly with a motif along the Unterweser or one of its tributaries. Winnen studied under Fritz Mackensen and Otto Modersohn in Düsseldorf; he was part of the Worpswede artist colony, though he never lived there himself. Besides Mackensen and Modersohn, he also met Hans am Ende, Fritz Overbeck, Heinrich Vogeler, and Paula Modersohn-Becker. Oil on cardboard.
