(1865 Marseille - 1923 Paris) A nude woman lying on a huge bearskin, a red-haired beauty with a delicate white veil and pink rose petals. The focus is unequivocally on the carefully rendered model, while the surroundings and background are depicted with sketch-like brushstrokes that masterfully flicker, creating a vivid, colorful contrast with the subtle flesh tones of the main subject. Perhaps intended as a preliminary study, this work by Tanoux, a student of Léon Bonnat, who often exhibited his genre scenes, portraits, nudes, and harem scenes at the Salon, where he received several awards. Oil on wooden panel. Signed. On the reverse, there appears to be an inscription and the date 1915, probably written by a foreign hand. 26 cm x 41 cm. Comes with a frame.
