This picture in the Jugendstil style, created by Polle around 1905–1914, captivates with its expressive lighting atmosphere. Polle studied under his father, the landscape painter Hermann Polle Sr., and studied painting from 1889 to 1895 with Peter Janssen at the Düsseldorf Art Academy. Since 1890, Polle has exhibited his paintings at the major Berlin Art Exhibition. In addition, Polle participated in significant exhibitions in Dresden, Munich, St. Louis (USA), and Vienna.
