(1910 Barmen/Wuppertal – 1984 Bremen) Untitled. A characteristic informal composition by Torgers, whose works are defined by a sensitively nuanced palette with black, dynamically applied contrasts. Having received his education at the School of Applied Arts in Bremen, Torgers initially worked in a figurative style, but after World War II he turned to the search for new forms of expression. Under the influence of Wols’ works, he developed his own visual language and, by the late 1950s, began to paint exclusively in the style of “informal art.” Mixed media with gouache on paper. Signed and dated (19)68. Dimensions: 90 cm x 60 cm. Framed.
