Description

The finial and the ornamented silver rim are executed in the Kakemono style. The barrel-shaped body, reminiscent of a cask, is encircled by horizontal ringed profiles. The side handles are ear-shaped and curved. The lid, slightly conical, is adorned with a small bud. On the wall is depicted the so-called Korean lion, not far from a flying heron, surrounded by peony branches, grasses, ferns, as well as dragonflies and butterflies. The polychrome painting in the Kakemono style is done in iron-red, enamel-blue, sea-green, brown, yellow, and a touch of violet colors. The silver rim was added later. Mark 925, France. Sword mark.
