Description

A spherical body, a curved side handle in the form of a bouquet with a palmette, and a curved spout shaped like an animal's head. A fitted lid with a plastic strawberry-shaped knob. On both sides of the body and the lid, there are gilt-decorated cartouches featuring pastoral landscape scenes in the Watteau style, alternating with bright turquoise "Deutsche Blume" (German floral) decoration. Polychrome painting with gilt details. The number "44" in purple on the base. Minor restoration; crossed swords. Height 12 cm. Compare Rückert, Catalog of Meissen Porcelain, Bavarian National Museum, No. 384 and following. A porcelain teapot on a turquoise ground with very fine painted scenes of Watteau and floral bouquets. Minimally restored. Crossed swords. Meissen. Circa 1745.
