Description

Spherical body, with a curved side handle in the form of a bouquet with a palmette and a curved spout shaped like an animal head. Fitted lid with a plastic strawberry-shaped knob. Both sides of the body and the lid feature gold-decorated inserts with landscape depictions of pastoral couples in the Watteau style, alternating with bright turquoise "Deutsche Blume" (German flower) ornaments. Polychrome painting with gold details. The number "44" in violet on the base. Minimal restoration; crossed swords. Height 12 cm. Compare Rückert, Catalog of Meissen Porcelain, Bavarian National Museum, No. 384 and following. A porcelain teapot on a turquoise background with very fine painted Watteau scenes and flower bouquets. Minimally restored. Crossed swords mark. Meissen. Circa 1745.
