The Royal Collection of Augustus the Strong includes a rounded vessel with a perforated bottom, pear-shaped, with side loops on the handle. It is decorated with a Kakiemon pattern depicting rocks and peonies. The rim and handle are adorned with a wide vine motif, following the Japanese model of decanters for the European market of the early 18th century. The Kakiemon decoration is polychrome with gold accents. It is stored under the number "N = 80 w" at the Johannneum (or Palace) Porcelain Collection. The condition is minimally acceptable, with a sword mark in underglaze blue. The height of the vessel is 13 cm. This decanter, created around 1730, was produced in two sizes. The smaller version with the number "80" from the former collection of Hans Siza was confiscated in April 1731 along with other related items and added to the royal collection with a Palace number. See Eikelmann/Weber, Volume II, p. 198, as well as catalog 173 and others. The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, inventory number 1995.268.100. Provenance: formerly part of the royal collection of Augustus the Strong at the Japanese Palace. A rare porcelain decanter with Kakiemon decoration. Made in Meissen around 1730.
