Description

A pear-shaped body with volute-shaped handles and a pointed spout. A domed lid with a spherical finial. On the body, a depiction of Venus or the sea nymph Galatea seated in a shell, accompanied by sea nymphs and cupids. In the background, Neptune, drawn by hippocamps, approaches with his trident. This Hausmalerei (home painting), likely from Breslau, is executed in purple camaieu with gold decoration. Some minor restorations; the lid differs. Height: 21 cm.
