Oval pedestal with rocaille relief. Above the elevated shore of waves, carried by three tritons, there is a chariot in the shape of a shell with double walls, surrounded by a finely sculpted floral wreath. Inside sits a semi-nude goddess Venus in a white dress with a belt adorned with jewels and a thin veil with an intricate pattern in soft yellow tones with Indian motifs on the flowers. Her beautiful locks of hair are decorated with a pearl necklace and a violet wreath. In her right hand, she holds a bow. Next to her swims Cupid with a filled quiver. Polychrome painting with gilded elements. Possibly the work of Johann Joachim Kändler. Unidentified restorations; minimal damage; small cracks formed during production. Sword mark. Height 23.5 cm. The execution of the ribbed finish on Venus’s chariot and especially the modeling and detailing of the tritons are characteristic features undoubtedly stylistically connected with Kändler’s design for the significant Slavic Service, created around 1739/40. See Pitch, Slavic Service Catalogue, item 61f. Large mythological group "The Triumph of Venus" with Venus seated in an open shell-chariot, modeled by J.J. Kändler. No significant restorations. Minor chips. Small cracks formed during production. Crossed swords mark. Meissen. First half of the 18th century.
