  • Reverse
    The central part features the 1911 logo of the professional hockey club, the Montreal Canadiens. It depicts the silhouette of a maple leaf bearing the club's acronym 'CAC' (Club Athletique Canadien). The central relief design on the reverse is executed in color. Along the edge of the coin are inscriptions in English: at the top, the country name 'CANADA'; at the bottom, the club's founding year '1909' and the mintage year '2009', separated by the club's modern logo.
  • Obverse
    The center features a right-facing profile of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain. In the truncation of the portrait are the Latin letters 'SB' – the designer's mark of Susanna Blunt. Inscriptions along the rim: to the right and left of the portrait, the Latin legend 'ELIZABETH II D∙ G∙ REGINA' (Elizabeth II by the Grace of God Queen) is split into two parts; at the top in English '50 CENTS'; at the bottom, the mintmark of the Ottawa Mint – a stylized maple leaf within a circle.
