Every entry carries photographs of both sides, metal, fineness, weight, diameter, mintage and catalogue numbers after Bitkin, Uzdenikov and Conros. The country is identified by the legend and the coat of arms, and where the legend is unreadable — by the denomination and monetary unit: most states used a unit of their own. The same type was struck for years, and varieties differ by date, mint and small die details.
