Below it: the engraver's privy mark of József Garanyi. Further below, an image of an exercise: a gymnast on the pommel horse. Along the left arc of the coin's edge is a pattern in Greek style.

In the central part, an image of the Olympic flame. To its right, a two-level inscription: '500 FORINT' - 500 Forint. Below, also in two levels, the inscription: 'MAGYAR COZTARSASAG', translated from Hungarian: 'Republic of Hungary'. Further below, the abbreviation 'B.P.' - indicating the Budapest Mint, and 1984 - the year of mintage. The engraver's privy mark of József Garanyi is located at the bottom near the rim. In the left part, along the arc of the coin's edge, is a wreath of five flowers.
