(1824 Vienna - 1883 ibid) Children playing blind cow game in the stable. A finely painted, realistic genre painting with a rural scene. Schams studied from 1837-1840 at the Academy in Vienna, and also in 1846/47 at the Art Academy of the Association of Patriotic Art Friends in Prague. After returning to Vienna, he became a private student of Ferdinand Georg Waldmüller, who had a lasting influence on him. Since 1861, Schams has been a member of the Society of Visual Artists of Vienna (later Vienna Artists' House). In the 1860s, he increasingly turned to genre painting, where he preferred small, humorous scenes from everyday life. Schams belonged to that generation of Viennese painters who grew up in the world of Biedermeier ideas and carried them on until the end of the 19th century. Oil on oak panel. Signed. 75 cm x 95 cm. Framed.
