(1878 Lodz - 1960 Planege near Munich) "Late Summer". Original title "View of a sun-drenched, tree-lined landscape with a small herd of cows at the watering hole, likely inspired by Heinrich von Zügel. A typical work in terms of motif and style for the late Impressionist artist. Pippel studied in Karlsruhe and Dresden under Gotthardt Kuehl, who introduced him to Impressionism. Since 1909, the artist primarily based in Planege near Munich, made his debut in 1911 at the Munich Glass Palace, where he has exhibited regularly and extensively since then. In the same year, he became a member of the artist association Luitpold-Gruppe. Characteristic of his style are flickering light effects and a dense, impasto application of paint in spatula technique or with loose brushstrokes. Oil on canvas; signed; verso with two original studio labels (with location Planege) titled by the artist. 80 x 70 cm. Framed.
