Description

Silver, enameled. On a flat base, cylindrical body with hinged lid. Surface adorned with delicate polychrome scattered flowers over translucent, ice-gray enameled and wave-shaped guilloche ground. The lid features the pierced monogram "FJ" under the Archducal Crown of Franz Joseph of Austria-Tuscany and Archduke of Austria (1905-1975). Signed, marked, mostly by master Johann Souval (active around 1915). Gilt interior. Weight approximately 25 g. Height 3.4 cm, diameter 2.6 cm. See photograph of the hallmark in the Museum of Applied Arts (MAK), Vienna, inventory number PZ 6552. Provenance: From a private collection in Brandenburg. Acquired at Dorotheum Vienna, 26.04.2006, Kaiserhaus auction, lot 201. A very fine small silver enameled box with the monogram of Franz Joseph of Austria-Tuscany and Archduke of Austria (1905-1975) by Johann Souval (active around 1915). Gilt inside.
