Description

On the underside. Semi-spherical shape. Ascending, blooming peony plants on the wall and in the mirror. Polychrome Kakiemon painting in Japanese style in enamel blue, iron red, purple, sea green, and a little yellow, partially gilded. Maker's mark for Johann Gottlieb Kühnel Sen. (active since 1732). Sword mark. Height: 4.5 cm. Compare with Rückert, Catalogue Bayer National Museum, Figure 253; Lübke Collection, Volume II, Number 162. A porcelain tea cup and saucer painted with Kakiemon decor. Crossed swords mark. Meissen. Around 1735.
