Book artist, sculptor, publisher. In 1985, he graduated from the sculpture department of the Riga Art and Industrial School named after S. Erzia. After art school, he completed the graphics department at MVHPU. Since 1988, he has been engaged in graphics, sculpture, and design. He is the author of interiors for public buildings in Kineshma and other cities. He is passionate about the artist’s book. Since 1989, he has been working with the artist’s book and founded the “Viktor Hoppe Publishing House.” During his publishing career, he has collaborated with many writers and poets (R. Elinin, K. Kedrov, I. Irtenyev, and others). Since the late 1990s, he has participated in all group exhibitions of artist’s books. In 1997, he exhibited in Paris at the “Graph” gallery of Luc Monod (the leading specialist in livre d’artiste). According to Viktor Hoppe, “the construction of the edition—the format, technique, and size of the illustrations—is determined by the text. The material must evoke an emotional response, interest, and excitement in the artist.” The artist’s books, sculptures, and graphic works are held in the Ivanovo Art Museum, the Kineshma Art Gallery, and in private collections in Russia, France, and the USA. He lives in Kineshma and Moscow.
