

(1813 Munich - 1888 ibid.) A family idyll on the river, a finely executed work by Brunner, in which he combines the cheerful summery South German mood of the landscape with a rural genre scene. Brunner went to Salzburg after studying at the Munich Academy in 1840; in the following years he lived in Innsbruck, Merano, Venice, and from 1865 to 1869 in Stuttgart, before returning to Munich.
