

(1819 Fredrikshald – 1867 Eidsberg) Fighting cocks in a stall with a hen, chicks, and a pigeon. A finely drawn work by the Norwegian artist, whose main subjects were animal depictions, as well as still lifes and landscapes. Printz studied at the Academy in Copenhagen from 1845, where he repeatedly exhibited his works at Charlottenborg from 1846 to 1852. In 1853, he went to study at the Academy in Düsseldorf under Wilhelm Preyer before returning to Norway. He possessed exceptional talent in depicting birds. The National Gallery in Oslo has, among other works, the painting "Fox in the Henhouse" from 1860. Oil on canvas. Signed and dated 1858. 53 cm x 65.5 cm. In a frame.
