Philipp Peter Roos, also known as Rosa da Tivoli.

(1657 Frankfurt/Main – 1706 Rome) Surrounded by a Shepherding Couple with Their Flock, Roos, who almost never signed his works, mainly depicted lively goats and sheep, as well as shepherds in rugged Campagna landscapes. Characteristic of his compositions is that Roos dominates the foreground with animals, so that they rule over the world of the Campagna. Roos, who came to Rome in 1677 and later to Tivoli, achieved European fame with his captivating depictions of animals in the late Baroque style and entered many significant collections. Oil on oak panel. 16.7 cm x 25.3 cm. Framed. Circle of Philipp Peter Roos, known as Rosa di Tivoli (1657 – 1706). Oil on oak panel.
