

(1828 Königsbrück/Dresden – 1911 Munich) A village on an Alpine lake is enlivened by a figural lathe, an atmospherically diverse landscape painted by the artist who studied at the Dresden Academy, Christian Gottlob Hammer, whose work is predominantly filled with high mountain motifs. Rouse undertook study trips to Switzerland and Italy, and along with Alpine motifs, he also depicted Norwegian fjords and seascapes with fishing boats on the moving waters of the North Sea or the Mediterranean Sea.
