(1872 Berlin – 1932 Neubabelsberg) "Summer Garden." Original title. Painted with virtuoso, free brushwork in bright, contrasting colors, this painting depicts a view of a summer garden. It was created by Hübner around 1929 and probably depicts a motif from the surroundings of his residence in Neubabelsberg (see "From the Garden of Dr. Jakob Goldschmidt," Neubabelsberg, 1927, catalog no. 293). Hübner, who studied in Karlsruhe from 1892 to 1895 and was a repeatedly awarded Impressionist artist, became a member of the Berlin Section in 1899 and headed the landscape painting workshop at the Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin in 1914. His Impressionist style, influenced by Monet, is characterized by luminous painting and dynamic color surfaces. Oil on canvas. Signed. No. 121, 67.5 cm x 92.5 cm. In a frame. Provenance: Abels Gallery, Cologne (year unknown). Swiss private collection. Literature: Westerhausen, Simone: Ulrich Hübner – City, Land, Sea. 2020, p. 348, catalog no. 302 (with illustration).
