An early, summery, cheerful work by Schellkopf, who studied from 1907 to 1914 at the Stuttgart Academy under the Impressionists Christian Landenberger and Robert Pötzelberger. From 1913, he participated in numerous exhibitions. In his further artistic development, he was initially influenced by the Expressionists and Adolf Hölzel, and from 1935, his work was shaped by French modernist art, Henri Matisse, and the Fauves, such as Raoul Dufy.
