

Analogues. Red, brightly spotted porphyry. A full plastic depiction of two reclining sphinxes on rectangular profiled pedestals on a wall with stylized hieroglyphs. Within the framework of the French style "Eclecticism of Egyptian Art" or the English "Egyptian Renaissance," decorative figures emerged—Marie Antoinette, who consistently promoted this fashion, acquiring larger pieces of furniture in the neo-Egyptian style for her private rooms and considering the sphinx as her personal iconographic symbol.
