Small Meissen Vase August Rex
Description

Recently, a short, round stand piece was discovered, featuring a spherical body with a narrow, column-like neck. On the wall, a flying bird and an insect are depicted among the branches of a peony in the "Korean Dragon" style (or "Chi-lin" decoration) in the Japanese Kakiemon style. On the unglazed base, there is a mark in blue underglaze AR (Augustus Rex). Height: 6.8 cm. See Eikelmann/Weber, Meissen Porcelain Catalogue after East Asian Models, vol. II, no. 401 (decoration).
