Description

The finial and the ornamented silver rim are executed in the Kakemono style. The barrel-shaped body, reminiscent of a barrel, is encircled by horizontal ring profiles. The side handles are ear-shaped and curved. The slightly conical lid is adorned with a bud. The wall depicts a so-called Korean lion, near a flying heron surrounded by peony branches, grasses, ferns, as well as dragonflies and butterflies. The polychrome painting in the Kakemono style is done in iron-red, enamel blue, sea green, brown, yellow, and a touch of purple. The silver rim was added later. Mark 925, France. Crossed swords mark.
