A rectangular, passively curved base with smoothed corners. Seated on a red cushion adorned with yellow tassels is a Chinese woman with crossed legs, turning her head to the side and looking at a parrot perched on her left hand. In her right hand, she holds a fruit. She is dressed in white clothing decorated with a purple floral pattern and olive-green cuffs. Her dark hair is covered by a yellow-and-black striped conical hat. The work is probably by Johann Friedrich Eberlein, circa 1735. A red seal lies on the ground. Unknown sword mark. Height 17 cm. A pair, the Chinese lady and a male counterfigure, can be found in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York (Inv. No. 1982.60.321, 322) and in the British Museum in London (1948, 1203.64). See Sigalas/Chilton, "Meissen Porcelain Figures of the Eighteenth Century," p. 480, No. 150. Porcelain pagoda with Chinese woman and parrot. Originally slightly restored. Crossed swords mark. Meissen. Circa 1735–1740.
