On a round pedestal decorated with flowers stands an upright Chinese figure in a purple robe and green trousers, holding an umbrella, depicted in delicate polychrome painting. The later pedestal, with a tablet and side vessels for ink and sand, is decorated in black with Japanese lacquer painting featuring cranes, ducks, and blossoming branches in a light brown tone, overloaded with gold painting and intricately executed raised gold. On the base is the inventory number: KG 2805. Restored; sword mark. Height: 16 cm. Dimensions: 32 cm x 23 cm. Similar ensembles with bronze bases were highly sought after in the 18th century, and the incorporation of porcelain figures into elaborate bronze bases was mainly carried out in France. See the Schwerin Museum catalog, figure 87. Gilt bronze writing set with a porcelain figure of a Chinese man. Figure restored. Base later. Crossed swords mark. Meissen. Circa 1750.
