

Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (1820 - 1904) "after Franz Xaver Winterhalter. A rectangular porcelain plaque depicting the Duchess in a forest landscape, splendidly dressed in a blue dress with black lace and red flowers on the décolleté. Based on Winterhalter's 1842 portrait. Numbering and marking on the reverse with an old label "304 Alexandrine Countess of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha 1840-" as well as two overlapping inventory labels, including "Schloss Baden Inventory Page 368 No. 37." 12 cm x 15.3 cm. Gilt wood frame with a corresponding applied brass plaque numbered "304". Provenance: from the collection of the Margraves and Grand Dukes of Baden, Sotheby's auction October 5-21, 1995, Baden-Baden, lot no. 5865.
