    In the central part, a large numeral '1' on the left. On the right, at the top, a two-line inscription in English 'EURO / CENT', meaning 'one euro cent'. Below the inscription, a symbolic depiction of the globe with the outlines of Europe against a background of six slanted parallel lines, with 12 stars at their ends. Near the rim on the right – the engraver's mark of Luc Luycx 'LL'.

    Around the edge of the coin – 12 stars of the European Union. In the central part, a collective image of a young, feminine modern Frenchwoman, Marianne. To her right, large cursive letters 'FR' – the mintmark for France on European Union coins. Below it, on the left, the mark of the Paris Mint (a cornucopia), on the right – the mark of its Chief Engraver, Hubert Larivière (a French horn with waves inside). Below – the year of issue '2006'. Along the rim at the bottom right, between two stars, the signature of the author Fabienne Courtiade 'F.COURTIADE'.
