In the central part, surrounded by a collage of landmarks of Simferopol, is the city's coat of arms. Below it, framed by a laurel wreath, is an inscription in Ukrainian: «225 РОКIВ», which translates to «225 years». Along the arc of the lower edge is the name of the city in Ukrainian: «СIМФЕРОПОЛЬ».
Obverse
In the central part is an image of the railway station in Simferopol and a six-line inscription in Ukrainian: «НАЦIОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ», which translates to «National Bank of Ukraine»; «5 ГРИВЕНЬ» - 5 hryvnias and the year of minting 2009. Above the inscription is the coat of arms of Ukraine. To the right of the clock tower is the mint mark of the Kyiv Mint.
