Reverse
In the central part is the Church of the Tithes in Kyiv. Below it is a ribbon with an inscription in Ukrainian: «ДУХОВНI СКАРБИ УКРАЇНИ» (Spiritual Treasures of Ukraine). Along the left arc of the coin's edge is the inscription in Ukrainian: «КИЇВ» (Kyiv). In the upper part, along the arc of the coin's edge, is the text in Ukrainian: «ДЕСЯТИNNА ЦЕРКВА» (Church of the Tithes). Along the right arc is the inscription: «996 р.» (996 AD). The inscriptions are separated by two decorative elements in the form of flower buds.
Obverse
In the central part, within a circle of smaller diameter, is an image of the Mother of God with the infant Jesus. Above them is the Coat of Arms of Ukraine. Below them is the year of mintage, 1996. Surrounding the image is a decorative pattern consisting of lines, leaves, a flower, and a bird. Below the year is a two-line semicircular inscription: «2 гривні» (2 Hryvnias). In the upper part, along the arc of the coin's edge, is the country name in Ukrainian: «УКРАЇНА» (Ukraine). The coin's edge features decorative elements in the form of dots.
