  • Reverse
    The legend 'BOGOTA' – indicating the Bogotá mint – is inscribed along the lower edge. To its left and right are the letters 'R.' and 'S.', separated from the legend by six-pointed stars. In the center, surrounded by a laurel wreath, is a three-line inscription: 'LEI OCHO DINEROS', which can be translated as 'contains 8 parts'. The rim is decorated with a toothed pattern.
  • Obverse
    The Spanish legend 'REPUBLICA DE LA NUEVA GRANADA' (Republic of New Granada) is placed to the right, top, and left. In the center is a ribbon with the Spanish inscription 'LIBERTAD I ORDEN' (Liberty and Order). It divides the field into two parts. Above it is a dove holding the ribbon in its beak. Below it is a cornucopia. The date 1843 is inscribed along the lower edge, separated from the legend by dots. The rim is decorated with a toothed pattern.
