Reverse At the top, along the rim, the Spanish text: 'BOGOTA' - indicating the Bogotá mint. In the center, the Spanish inscription: 'DOS REALES' - two reales, surrounded by a wreath of oak leaves entwined with ribbons. On both sides of the numeral are symbols of the god of trade, Apollo: a winged staff entwined by two snakes. Along the lower rim, the silver fineness: 'LEI 0,900'. The edge is decorated with denticles.
Obverse To the right, top, and left is the Spanish inscription: 'REPUBLICA DE LA NUEVA GRANADA', meaning 'Republic of New Granada'. In the center is the shield of the Colombian coat of arms, wreathed with a laurel wreath. At the bottom, along the rim, is the date 1850. The edge is decorated with denticles.
