(1810 Dresden - 1895 Naples) Refuge in the monastery from invading soldiers. A multifigure, finely painted scene from Italian history. This rare work is characterized by its motif, executed with great attention to detail, by an artist primarily known as an architect, who was trained as an architect at the Dresden Art Academy. Since 1833, he spent extended periods in Rome, alternating between Dresden and Italy since 1852, and finally settled permanently in Naples. He mostly painted Italian homes, churches, and monasteries. Watercolor on paper. Signed. Dimensions: 29 cm x 23.5 cm. Framed.
