[“Well, who else wants to try the commissar’s body?”] Advertising poster for the feature film based on the play of the same name by Vsevolod Vishnevsky, “Optimistic Tragedy” / Artist: E. Grebenshchikov. Moscow: “Reklamfilm”, 1987. 86×53.3 cm. In good condition, minor tears. Events of 1918. A woman commissar is appointed by the Central Committee of the Bolshevik Party to the warship “Gromoboy”, which is ruled by anarchist sailors. She faces a difficult task: to win the sailors’ respect and eradicate anarchy. The informal leader of the sailors, nicknamed Vozhak, provokes an attempt at gang rape of the commissar, but she shoots one of the attackers point-blank, after which she utters the phrase that became famous: “Well, who else wants to try the commissar’s body?”
