One of the most famous posters of the Great Patriotic War — Viktor Koretsky's poster "Warrior of the Red Army, Save Us!" — was first printed in the newspaper "Pravda" on August 5, 1942. After a very short time, the actual poster was printed with a circulation of more than 10 million copies. At the same time, some changes were made to the poster: the inscription became red, and the blood dripping from the bayonet was also colored red. Viktor Borisovich Koretsky (1909-1998) — Soviet graphic artist, poster artist; Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1961); Laureate of two Stalin Prizes (1946, 1949). During the Great Patriotic War, he created over 40 posters. Author of the first Soviet postage stamp dedicated to the Great Patriotic War, "Be a Hero!", which was issued on August 12, 1941. From 1956, he worked at the "Agitplakat" association. The artist's creative method is based on a combination of natural photographs with pencil and gouache drawings. Provenance: comes from the family of theatrical artist and graphic artist Boris Borisovich Strakhov (1932-2021), to whom the presented mock-up was gifted by the author.
