(1763 Baccarat - 1832 Épinal) Portrait of Marie Adélaïde de Bourbon as Diana. An elliptical depiction of the French princess, also known as Madame Adélaïde. Beautifully drawn, with a captivating portrait by the French miniaturist and painter Laurent, based on the famous 1745 painting by Jean-Marc Nattier (1685-1766), which exists in two versions in Versailles and the Uffizi. Nattier became the court painter of Louis XV in 1737, and this exquisite tempera miniature painting is signed "Laurent." Its dimensions are 10.5 cm x 10 cm, and it is presented in a magnificent brass frame adorned with laurel wreaths and decorated with sculpted floral garlands in relief. A splendid example of a tempera miniature portrait painting of Princess Marie Adélaïde of France as Diana. Signed and framed.
