(1759 Gmain/Upper Bavaria - 1841 Munich) Surrounded by castle ruins, in tonal colors and with a free brushstroke, a mountainous landscape is depicted with picturesque ruins on a cliff, as could be found in Northern Italy. In terms of style and motifs, this impression has clear parallels with the landscapes of the Munich School in the early 19th century, especially with the immediate impressions captured by Johann Georg von Dillis during his numerous journeys through the Mediterranean.
