(1807, Bristol – 1879, London) A dejected peasant girl plays with a cat. This is a provocative work by the famous British genre painter, who debuted at the Royal Academy in 1830 and exhibited there almost every year from 1837 to 1879. In 1846, Poole became an associate of the Royal Academy, and in 1861 he was appointed a full member (academician). Oil on canvas, restored; signed and dated 1870. Dimensions: 48 cm x 36 cm. In a frame.
