

(1853 Arolsen – 1929 Munich) Children playing, creating soap bubbles in an Upper Bavarian room. Genre painting from the Munich School with an atmospheric mood. Blume-Siebert studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1871, mainly under Julius Roeting, and transferred to the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich after the fire in 1872, where he discovered genre painting from 1873 under the guidance of Franz Defregger. From 1874 to 1879, he lived in New York. In the 1890s, he occasionally stayed at the Willingshausen artists' colony.
In his paintings, influenced among others by Franz Defregger, Ludwig Knaus, or Benjamin Vautier, he mainly depicted idyllic and folk scenes of rural life, often with children.
