(1842 Hamburg - 1923 ibid.) "Spring in the Campagna". Original title. A cheerful, harmonious, light-filled landscape with a broad view from a high vantage point over the plain of the Campagna. In the foreground, a picturesque hut with a conical roof, two cypress trees reaching into the sky, and blossoming fruit trees, as well as a young couple and another separate figure. Painted in a bright, pastel color palette and with partially soft brushstrokes, creating an atmospheric landscape. Lutterroth studied from 1864 to 1867 under Oswald Achenbach at the Düsseldorf Academy. From 1868 to 1870, Lutterroth spent time in Rome and undertook study trips throughout Italy. Upon returning to his hometown, he gained a significant reputation as a landscape painter, extending far beyond Hamburg. Particular attention was shown to him personally by the princely couple Friedrich Wilhelm and Victoria. One of his main themes was Italian landscapes and Venetian motifs. Oil on canvas; signed. Title and inscription "A Lutterroth Hamburg Uhlenhorst" on the reverse. 80.5 cm x 118.5 cm. Framed.
