

(1859 Barcelona - 1918 Rome) Landscape of the Pontine Marshes at Sunset
Serra became famous primarily for his symbolic characteristic landscapes of the Pontine Marshes. He studied at the art school in Barcelona and continued his artistic education at the Accademia Chigi in Rome. Even after completing his studies, he remained in Rome. In 1888, Serra received a gold medal at the World's Fair in Barcelona. In 1895, Serra went to Paris, where he continued his successful career, while also continuing to work in Rome. Oil on canvas; signed and dated 1896 with indication of the location Rome. 42 cm x 100 cm. Framed. A comparable landscape of the "Pontine Lagoon" from 1896 (inv. no.
