(1858 Radeburg – 1929 Berlin) "I Put Myself in Order." Original title: A humorous drawing of a young Berlin woman in an elegant dress with a huge hat. This work illustrates Zille’s extraordinary talent for depicting the character, features, and essence of the portrayed faces both as individual personalities and as types. He achieves this by focusing only on what is essential and compressing his images. With just a few soft, flowing lines and strokes, he captures the contours and body, complementing them with subtle, flat coloring. Charcoal drawing with colored chalk on Japanese paper. On the reverse side, there are two estate stamps in red paint: "Heinrich Zille" (Rosenbach 1) and "Estate of Professor Heinrich Zille" (Rosenbach 4). There are traces of mounting, slight yellowing, and stains. 18.7 cm x 13.2 cm. In a frame. Provenance: From the artist’s estate managed by his son Walter Zille.
