A beautiful, typical work by a versatile artist who worked as a sculptor, draughtsman, printmaker, ceramist and designer. Marx was a master at the Bauhaus in Weimar from 1919 to 1925, where he served as artistic director of the Bauhaus ceramics workshop in Dornburg from 1920; from 1925 to 1933 he worked as a teacher at the Burg Giebichenstein School of Art in Halle/S., and from 1945 to 1950 at the State School of Art in Hamburg.
