(1889 Berlin – 1981 Burgbrohl/Eifel) Standing female nude in profile. A beautiful, typical sheet by a versatile artist who worked as a sculptor, draftsman, printmaker, ceramist, and designer. Marx was a master at the Bauhaus in Weimar from 1919 to 1925, where he served as artistic director of the Bauhaus ceramics workshop in Dornburg starting in 1920; from 1925 to 1933, he worked as a teacher at the Burg Giebichenstein School of Art in Halle/S., and from 1945 to 1950 at the State School of Art in Hamburg.
